Introduction to VGC Worlds-2015-announce-169

Hello! If you're reading this, you probably are interested in VGC. Or it makes you curious. Either way, lets begin!

First, and the most important thing; VGC is nothing like OU or other single mon metas. VGC is done in the double battle format, which brings in entirely new strategies, takes out staple strategies that are used in singles *cough* stall*cough*, and makes some moves way more viable than they would ever be in singles. Heck, the entire meta revolves around a single move, Protect.

Secondly is that VGC battles are way faster paced than singles. This is because the faster paced meta eliminates the stall strategy. Also because you can only bring 4 out of your 6 Pokemon. Seriously, I once had a battle that lasted 3 turns.

Now, I will be going over common terms and strategies in VGC, and what they mean. I wont be listing things such as hax, as everyone knows what they mean.

Double Targeting: Pretty self explanatory. Its when two Pokemon target another single Pokemon on the field. Also why the entire meta revolves around protect.

Redirection: When a Pokemon uses the moves Rage Powder or Follow Me to make all enemy attacks hit the Pokemon that uses either of those moves. The most common ones are Amoongus, Togekiss, Lucario, and Volcarona. This is usually used to prevent a Pokemon from betting hit while it is using a boostng moves. However, other uses exist such as Garchomp and Togekiss, with Togekiss providing redirection support for Garchomp.

Spread Moves: Moves that hit multiple Pokemon at once. The most common spread moves are Earthquake, Rock Slide, Heat Wave, Hyper voice, and the occasional Dazzling Gleam. These moves are very important for obvious reasons.

Weather: Really obvious. The use of weather conditions as a strategy.

Will be updated later today.

Great explanation, why not post pictures of the most used VGC Pokemon? Landorus, Therian, Mega Kanga, etc. and the way that they are used in the VGC format, moveset, etc.
