Blaziken or Infernape?
Infernape or Blaziken
Hi everyone.
I've always liked Infernape better, but many people disagree. I'd like to hear your opinion on this matter. Please include opinions on design, abilities, movesets, stats and overall competitiveness. Please refrain from using Blaziken's mega evolution as Infernape is yet to have one, allowing for unfair comparison. Infernape will eventually get one, so you can use both mega evolutions then. Thankyou.
As I said before, I like Infernape. Its design is better, and its ability Iron Fist is very good competitively, especially when it's combined with the moves Fire Punch, Thunder Punch, Mach Punch and U-Turn. Its defence lets it down, but its attack is very good.

Re: Infernape or Blaziken
speed boost is way better than iron fist competitvely though... Blaziken also gets fire punch and thunder punch. Blaziken also gets high jump kick, baton pass, stone edge and brave bird. Blaziken's attack is also higher than infernape. Blaziken is in Uber for a reason, and infernape is in UU for a reason.

Re: Infernape or Blaziken
Infernape is the only Pokemon that I can't stand. The design is terrible; it grows armor while having terrible defenses, its head is on fire which serves no useful purpose (Headbutt?), and my god is it hideous.
In terms of battling, it's not even a contest. Infernape faces too much competition from Pokemon that do what it does way better than it can. Iron Fist is nice, but it's barely helpful in practice.
It has a great movepool, but can't make use of everything it needs to pull off a sweep (choosing SD or NP forces it to be walled by something, and good luck finding an opportunity to get it up), the Speed, while good, is beaten out by common base 110's like Lati@s, which resist both STABs and force it out, giving them a free turn to Calm Mind or Draco Meteor the switch.
Infernape is outclassed in every way possible except for some niche moves like Nasty Plot, Grass Knot, and the hilarious Slack Off.
On the flip side, Blaziken gets one of the best abilities in the game, looks badass, and can 1-2HKO a majority of the game with ease. They got it right the first time.

True, except I like infernape's design. But in battling infernape is far from blaziken unless you don't count hidden ability. Infernape isn't really outclassed by blaziken as a suicide lead though... As it can learn fake out, endeaver, stealth rock and mach punch. So basically, infernape is outclassed by blaziken except for special clean up and suicide lead.

I did forget he had suicide lead. But even then there are better suicide leads, and suicide lead in general is a relic this generation since it's so easy to remove hazards.

in UU, yeah, not too many spin blocker and a few defogger and spinner. And for the iron fist thing, infernape's main stab moves for physical are flare blitz and close combat ._.

You really can't worry about the recoil from Flare Blitz, Ape can survive 1 hit maximum, best to maximize your damage output.

True. They shouldn't have messed his stats up first. His Mega-Evolution better fix him up.

unless you are running a bulky set with willowisp and slack off, I guess. It is still to frail, though.

Yeah, bulky Ape is one of the worst sets I've ever seen on anything. It's hilarious that it's one of the recommended sets, it's so far beyond bad.

Re: Infernape or Blaziken
well, it can surprise people, I guess. It can wall landorus-t after burning it and slack off. Other then surprising people, there aren't much use for running such set.

Re: Infernape or Blaziken
0 Atk burned Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 88 Def Infernape: 175-207 (49.2 - 58.3%) -- 98.4% chance to 2HKO
It actually can't wall even a completely uninvested Landorus-T. The best it can do is Burn it, lose half health, and switch immediately. Know what else can do that? So many better Pokemon that learn Will-o-Wisp. WallApe is the dumbest possible use of Infernape and it doesn't even work.
