Relaxing Thread Necroing Rule
Brief description of idea: Relaxing Thread Necroing Rule
Detailed description of idea: There are quite a lot of older threads in some of the sections such as pokemon games that I'd like to reply to but I'm unable to because the last reply there was over a month ago, some of the threads were posted before I joined the forum. I know there's an exception if you can provide additional relevant information in the thread with your post but I'm not sure if a post I made would qualify or not. With the forum being a bit inactive at the moment there are a lot of threads with not many replies that we can't reply to, if we could reply to some of these threads then then we might be able to increase the forums activity as a result.

Re: Relaxing Thread Necroing Rule
Apologies a ton for the bump, but with this being on the first page I hope it's okay (and I hope it's okay for me to leave my input to begin with, though I feel this is a really important idea)! Really, I second this a lot... I don't feel that with a forum of this size that it's necessary at all to have a Thread Necromancy rule, of course, this is just my opinion—but until activity has stabilized I don't think it should be a rule just to encourage more posting. There aren't lots of threads around from what I can see (then again, I'm only looking in certain forums, haha!), and that's okay, we can always make more!—but I feel some people may be turned off from posting if they're too shy to make a new thread and the majority of threads are inactive, y'know?
Then again, if the rule states it's okay to necrobump if you're adding something in (like say, it's a "your favourite Pokémon!" thread, and you want to bump it to state your favourite, according to the rules that's a-okay), I don't see all that much of an issue—so I suppose it depends on how you view the rule.
Of course, these are just my two cents, but this thread would for example already be classed as Necrobumping (but again, going by the rules it's fine)... but it's the first thread (non-sticky/non-announcement) in this forum! D:

Re: Relaxing Thread Necroing Rule
I'm not sure what RC means. I presume that he can't reply to a thread because it would be double posting or something? If that's the case, it's absolutely fine to do that. If it's something else, please tell me

Looking over his post it appears to mean he's talking about the one-month Thread Necromancy rule—some of the threads were indeed made and last posted in before me or even him joined, so according to the one-month Thread Necromancy rule we can't post in them unless we're adding something (and RC stated he wasn't sure if he could properly contribute, I feel the same way oops).

Re: Relaxing Thread Necroing Rule
Yeah I meant the thread necromancy rule, like Flower said it's probably not really all that necessary on a smaller forum and may discourage posting unless the rule is clarified a bit more. Some larger forums don't have strict thread necromancy rules as well, Bulbagarden for example doesn't really have much in the way of a thread necromancy rule.
I think based on what I think the rule says it should be ok for me to post in some of the older threads I would like to post in though as I think it would be contributing something new to the thread or discussion.

Re: Relaxing Thread Necroing Rule
we do have necro rule but imo it shouldn't really reply to relaxing thread
"Necroing Threads
Necroing threads is when someone brings back an old thread by posting in it. Any post older than a month should not be brought back.
There only exception is of you can provide additional information to the thread and it is relevant.
Example (a post after 2 months has past):
Does anyone know if you can find that Pokémon anywhere else?"
but in my opinion we kind of want people to post random stuff right now so... and i guess everything is relevent in relaxing thread?

Re: Relaxing Thread Necroing Rule
Yeah, I think probably most posts are relevant right now and anything that could revive a dead topic caused by inactivity is probably a good thing.
I think it would probably be better to drop the thread necromancy rule altogether myself but any changes in the rules are up to the admins. If there were any threads we didn't want anyone to reply to though the staff could just lock or archive those threads instead of applying a necrimancy rule.
