EV Training Guide
EVs are very important things for competitive battlers. While some prefer Showdown, others use the cartridge games for battling. This guide will be talking about the most recent generation, X/Y and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire.
First, you're going to need to make sure that your Pokemon has no EVs. You can easily check this by going into the super training menu on the playnav. Also, you will want your Pokemon to have a good nature for it (such as adamant Garchomp, jolly Mega Charizard- Y, Quiet Aegislash, etc) and proper IVvs. If anyone wants me to, Ill make a IV breeding guide as well.
After you select your Pokemon, Make sure that you have a Sweet Scent user (I use Combee, which can be found on Route 4, only in X/Y). A good ORAS Sweet Scent user is Tropius, which can be found on route 109. You'll also need spread moves. The best ones to use are Earthquake, Dazzling Gleam, Hyper Voice, and Surf.
Other than that, you're good on Pokemon. Pokerus is HIGHLY recommended, but it isn't necessary. If anyone needs a pokerus Mon, PM me your Friend code.
Next, you're gonna want the power items. They can be purchased at the Battle Resort for 16 BP in ORAS, and for the same price at the Battle Maison in X/Y. All of them total will cost 96 BP. Don't use the Macho Brace, it takes way longer with that than with a Power Item.
All horde battles will give you 25 EVs with a Power Item, And 50 EVs with Power Items and Pokerus. The highest level you'll encounter is level 15 in ORAS, and level 16 in X/Y.
Please note that only the most common encounters are listed.
HP
Whismur.
Location: Rusturf Tunnel. Will always encounter a whismur horde with Sweet Scent/Honey.
XY Location: Connecting Cave
While Gulpin can also be found on Route 5, it is not recommended, as 3 other Hordes are present on that route.
Attack
OR/AS
Shuppet
Location: Mt. Pyre (cemetery). Will always encounter a Shuppet horde with Sweet Scent/Honey.
X/Y
Cubchoo
Location: Frost Cavern.
Defense
OR/AS
Sandshrew
Location: Route 111. Will always encounter a Sandshrew horde with Sweet Scent/Honey.
X/Y
Aron, Durant, and Geodude
Location: Terminus Cave
Note: There is a chance that you will encounter a Larvitar Horde here.
Special Attack
OR/AS
Oddish
Location: Route 119. Will always encounter a Oddish horde with Sweet Scent/Honey.
X/Y
Vanillite
Location: Frost Cavern
Note: Smoochum Hordes can be encountered as well, but they give the same EVs as Vanillite.
Special Defense
OR/AS
Swablu
Location: Route 115 Will always encounter a Swablu horde with Sweet Scent/Honey.
Note: These Swablu have sing, so be careful when fighting them.
X/Y
Hoppip
Location: Route 7
Note: Psyduck and Roselia Hordes can be found here as well.
Speed
OR/AS
Zigzagoon, Wingull, Tailow
Location: Route 104. Will always encounter these hordes with Sweet Scent/Honey.
X/Y
Zubat
Location: Connecting Cave
And that's it! I hope this guide helped.

Re: EV Training Guide
Great guide indeed!, It would be helpful if you made a guide for IV breeding (& with the movesets, etc if you can). Also, if you could edit this post for pokemon Y/X as well, people would appreciate it ^^.

Re: EV Training Guide
Alright, I can do that. Though a problem with that will be getting every single egg move, so I may just end up either listing only common moves (Wide Guard Aegislash, Giga Drain Venusaur, etc), posting egg sets upon request, or just referring to another source for the egg moves (my personal favourite is Serebii).

Re: EV Training Guide
Would anyone like a guide about VGC (an intro to the basics of it, and important things, not really an in depth guide. If I make one of those it'll be a separate guide)?

Re: EV Training Guide
Tonight, I will be updating this guide with the X/Y information, upon suggestion from Laura. And tomorrow, I will be posting 2 new guides: An introduction to VGC, and an IV breeding guide. The breeding guide will be uploaded to the Pokemon Guides section, and the VGC to the Tacticts section.

Re: EV Training Guide
Thanks so much for this guide. It's really good.
How do you choose which stats the EVs go to? If you only have a limit, you don't want them to go to an unwanted stat.
Thanks so much for the guide and can't wait to see more.

You battle the listed Pokemon for each stat. Unless you mean how do you decide spreads. That's not enough for a guide, but basically spreads should work for the individual role of the Pokemon.
The limit of total EVs is 510, and 252 in a single stat.

Re: EV Training Guide
Also, when the pokemon is level 100. it increases its stats every 4 ev it gets, so 510 evs are the same as 5087JayDee7 wrote:KYuremFreeze wrote:7JayDee7 wrote:Thanks so much for this guide. It's really good.
