Tips for beginners (showdown)
Pokemon showdown is completely different from normal pokemon games. You don't just level up your pokemon and beat opponent, you and your opponent have the same level (except that is, you are using F.E.A.R). You get to use any pokemon (every format have their own rules, for the one that has no specific rules, it would be anything goes), and make the best team you can think of and try to win as many battles as you can. Here are some tips for beginners:
1. Don't judge a pokemon by its look
Cool pokemon might be bad, terrible looking pokemon might be good. For example, aegislash, a bad designed pokemon, is so powerful that it is banned in ou. Another example, charizard in Gen 5 was in NU. So don't just like a pokemon because its design.
2. Don't just use your favourite pokemon because you like it
Your pokemon has the same level as your opponent's pokemon (usually), it is nothing like normal games. Use pokemon that are actually capable of battling. When you choose a pokemon, ask yourself why and there should be an answer other than "I like it" or "It looks cool"
3. Don't think a pokemon is great just because it wrecked a team
it beated a team, doesn't mean it will always beat them.
4. (Uber) STOP USING CHARIZARD!!
Again, ask yourself why you use it. All starters aren't great in ubers, the only one that are viable are blaziken and greninja.
Starters are viable in lower tier, but just don't use them in uber unless they are blaziken or greninja.
5. Balance your team
Don't just throw in the best pokemon, you need to make sure that your team is not completely ruined by a pokemon.
6. Don't throw in random moves
When you choose a move, think about this, "What pokemon does this move help against"
7. Don't just think a pokemon is great because it is voted very high in like a top ten list or top list or some kind
Those top ten lists are completely not reliable. A lot of them are voted high with no legit reasons

Nicely done.
Is there a way I can save a thread, similar to a personal archive?
